ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE POST-PRODUCTION OF MUSIC RECORDINGS

Artificial intelligence in audio post-production

BUDAI, Peter: Artificial intelligence in the post-production of music recordings.

This thesis describes the historical development of artificial intelligence (AI), its basic principles, and its integration into sound editing software. It captures the issue of AI creativity as a key factor in post-production work and clarifies it’s fundamental functions in software designed for the post-production of music recordings. Work describes input data analysis of AI software and its assumed processing. Due to the commercial effects of these software, data on internal software processes represent the protected know-how of commercial companies and are not available to the public. The diploma thesis aims to approach the state of expertise and creativity of AI in the process of sound postproduction of music recordings, based on a comparison of the final mix created on the one hand by artificial intelligence, on the other hand by human. Addressed sound specialists evaluated pre – defined basic sound aspects in music recordings through a questionnaire. Based on the methods of an interval scale, the presented work defines the quality of software as a functional assessment for sound mixing, names its strengths and weaknesses, and points out in which aspects artificial intelligence is used to compete with the work of human audio engineers.
